Frequently Asked Questions

HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?

An average session is usually one to one and a half hours.

HOW OFTEN WILL I HAVE TO ATTEND?

The number and frequency of sessions varies but will be agreed between us at the start of counselling.

HOW CONFIDENTIAL ARE OUR SESSIONS?

I adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Counselling Association of South Australia, and everything you say to me remains absolutely confidential between us. The only time it may be necessary for me to discuss our counselling with other professionals is if:

• I believe that there is a danger that you may harm yourself or someone else
• If I am required by the courts to release information
• I have permission from you to speak to another health care professional, such as a social worker or doctor on your behalf
